Duties

  • Help health care providers and patients by greeting them in person and by phone; answering questions and requests; referring inquiries to the pharmacist.
  • Supports the specific needs of patients with diabetes by maintaining supplies for glucose monitors, instructing patients in their usage, downloading results, troubleshooting problems.
  • Maintains pharmacy inventory by checking pharmaceutical stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed medications and supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt, preparing outdated drugs for disposal by pharmacist.
  • Maintain a safe and clean pharmacy by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Protect patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
  • Organizes medications for pharmacist to dispense by reading medication orders and prescriptions, preparing labels, calculating quantities, assembling intravenous solutions and other pharmaceutical therapies.
  • Maintain records by recording and filing providers’ orders and prescriptions.
  • Generate revenue by confirming insurance coverage.
  • Responsible for billing patients’ insurance and troubleshooting unpaid claims.
  • Ensure medication availability by delivering medications to patients as instructed.
  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must hold a certificate of registration as a Pharmaceutical Technician issued by the Nevada State Board of Pharmacy.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills, integrity, and be dependable.
  • Proficient with Electronic Health Records and other related computer applications.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • High School Graduate or GED certification required.
  • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check.
  • Possess a valid Nevada driver’s license.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.
