Duties

  • Work with the help desk software to create tickets, update, and maintain tickets within the help desk ticket system. Assign tickets appropriately. Basic
  • Assessment of issues for documentation.
  • Assist with obtaining Purchase Orders for purchasing equipment as deemed necessary by supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues, assess and resolve Tier 1 tickets and escalate as necessary.
  • Complete hardware installation and moves.
  • Initiate asset electronic forms for transfer or new IT equipment.
  • Create new user accounts, install software on PCs, and complete IT new user checklists.
  • Create relevant IT documentation and procedures.
  • Maintain YPT website and social media assets content and proofread incoming submissions for approval.
  • Create electronic forms.
  • Maintain software license lists and ensure compliance.
  • Analyze hardware and software requirements and make recommendations to the duties necessary for the design and operation of the Tribe’s information network.

  • Maintains and ensures the confidentiality, security and integrity of all data, data systems and data networks across the entire organization.
  • Assist Tribal departments and programs in data collection procedures and compilations for information exchange system.
  • Collaborates with Administrative EHR IT Technician on Network design and improvements
  • Servers:
    • Managing and installing updates for blade systems (firmware and management software);
    • Server procurement and planning sufficient resources for future needs;
    • Maintenance of all Virtual Machines (servers) on the blade systems both Windows and other OS-based machines;
    • Server backups and restoration (including off-site backups as necessary), allocate backup resources, monitor for any errors;
    • Server replication services and resources;
    • Maintain server storage and all virtualization services are updated with as little downtime as possible;
    • Build, setup, and maintain NAS servers (and associated storage software licensing and updates).
  • Email:
    • Email server maintenance;
    • Account maintenance, server security, updating blacklist/whitelists, quotas, backups, main queue monitoring, creating shared resources, maintaining latest updates on server, etc)
  • Project Planning:
    • Testing, Quality Assurance, and documentation of new technologies and projects;
    • Configuration and planning of network resources (Wireless and wired);
    • Delegation of IT duties to bring projects to completion;
    • Liaison with outside vendors for support or hardware procurement;
    • Network Maintenance:
    • Network closet facilities – AC units, configuring server rack space, acquiring more power connections or battery backups as needed;
    • Configuring and managing network switches – Setting up VLAN’s and security;
    • Patch panel maintenance;
    • Configuration of routing, firewall, static routes and IP address management for all segments of the network;
    • Create and Maintain Network maps of varies segments of the network;
    • Maintenance of all physical network wiring in all locations (including re-wiring or adding additional wiring);
    • Collaborate with our Internet Service Provider(s) regarding services;
    • Enlist Network Engineer assistance if necessary for design, troubleshooting, and improvements of our Network, and penetration testing readiness;
  • Wi-Fi infrastructure support.
  • Software and Hardware Support:
    • Licensing (in with conjunction with IT support specialist);
    • Assessing power and backup battery needs for PC’s;
    • Maintaining and upgrading all PC’s as necessary including Hardware and Software;
    • Assist in supporting various solar arrays at each site to ensure connectivity wit monitoring services.
  • Help Desk
    • Tier 1-3 issues;
    • Creating tickets
    • Maintaining our Help Desk software;
    • Creating reports from Help Desk software.
  • Telephone Systems:
    • Purchase, activation, and maintenance of all Tribal cellular devices and voicemail, manage usage, limitations, upgrades, etc.;
    • Support of all landlines (fax lines) and VOIP phones, phone system administration including voicemail, ring groups, automated attendant and recording of all auto attendant greetings and voicemail blasts.
  • Training:
    • Train staff one-on-one (new hires) or in large groups with regard to new software;
    • Produce training material and training videos for employees’ reference;
  • Monitoring:
    • Network resources and internet connections;
    • Network (web) filtering to ensure security and proper efficiency of our internet/network usage, reducing non- productive internet usage;
    • Review and report blocked websites in need of review/approval for whitelisting (report to Tribal Administrator findings);
  • Electronic Records:
    • Design, testing, and maintenance of electronic records systems – IE: Internal Forms, TimeForce, Employee Resource drives, and PDF conversion, etc.);
    • Programmatic changes (change control), testing, publishing of new updates;
    • Work with each department to create new forms;
    • Assess needs for future software endeavors.
  • Network Administration:
    • Maintain Active Directory (all users and computer accounts), Group Policy (incorporates software setup and limitations for the users) and set up domain resources;
    • File share setup and maintenance (Permissions, allocation, etc).
  • Supervision:
    • Supervise IT Support Specialist;
    • Approve timecards and time off request;
    • Train (and cross-train) personnel in various IT duties.
  • Auditing:
    • Audit systems at regular intervals to ensure up-to-date resources;
    • Review security logs on servers, switches, routing, firewall, blade servers, various services, computer access logs, and Antivirus/Anti-malware server logs, address any issues as a result;
    • Review all resources to reclaim any unused portions of those resources (extra PC’s, extra licensing, extra email accounts, etc.);
    • Archive unused resources and store securely off of the servers onto DVD media.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • CompTia, A+, Hardware Certification required.
  • Other Microsoft Certifications suggested: MCP minimum (Microsoft Certified Professional).
  • MCITP (Microsoft Certified Information Technician Professional), MCSA (Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator) and MCDST ( Microsoft
  • Certification Desktop Technician Support) in Windows XP or higher certification preferred.
  • Minimum of five years (with eight years or more preferred) of increasingly responsible experience in a corporate or Government environment in
  • information technology, system administration or related filed.
  • Pass a Pre-Employment drug screen and background investigation
  • Possess a valid Nevada driver’s license.
  • Able to lift 40 lbs.
